I can say after seeing Mike in his twenties, thirties and forties that he has aged gracefully; much more graceful than myself.

I could share with you many stories of Mike that have made the news over the years, some good and some not so good, however I am going to stick to sharing a little of what I know of Mike as a person and then a little of his involvement in Sean Simmons' murder.

Let's first recognize that Mike is just a man, a man with a position but a man just the same. Mike has a family who loves him and friends who respect him; I hope he considers me among the latter. Throughout the late eighties and into the nineties my life was entrusted to Mike on more than one occasion. There was never a time when I worried that my safety was not paramount in his mind.

Why is that? A number of reasons come to mind but here are the top three; Mike Cabana is a man who has a high degree of integrity, Mike is a man of his word and last of all Mike has a huge heart that causes him to care about others. This is what makes him not only a good police officer but it is why he has made it through the ranks to become Assistant Commissioner despite the Mahar Arar incident.

What was Mike's involvement in the Sean Simmons murder? Well I will let him tell his version from his perspective by allowing you to read his Briefing Note on the subject and then I will comment further next week...
